NKHOTAKOTA VACATION SKILLS CENTRE

The vacational trainings in both welding & computing are progressing well. The six month class session for welding whose 1st intake was early days of the yr 2011 had its graduation in the month of June 2011. The graduating students recieved certificates for completing the course. The class had 12 students among them was 1 female. The 2nd intake will last up to Dec 2011. It has 13 students & 1 female among them as well.
Basic computing class has 12 students in its 1st intake & 3 out of these were girls. The 1st gradution for computing classess was in may,2011. The student recieved certificate in computer operation on the graduation day. The 2nd intake for the class was from June to July whose total number of students enrolled was 15. 4 among them were female. They graduated on the month end of July. August September computer class session had 28 students & among them 10 were girls. Likewise the graduation was done on the month end of September. The current October November class is having 22 students of which the majority are girls(14) & 8 boys. This is encouraging news for the Nation which is striving to have more female Malawian educated.

NORWAY NKHOTAKOTA END F.K EXCHANGE VISITS PROGRAMME

The exchange programme between Nkhotakota and Flora finally come to an end on 27th April,2011, when deligated from Norway and officials from Nkhotakota District Council signed to officially mark its end.
Here are the names of Deligate from Norway that come to Malawi to officially sign marking the end of this programme:
Flora Manucipality District Commissioner: Mr. Terje Heggheim,
FK Coordinator: Arild Melvaer
Councilor: Ms Bente Halvorsen
It was originally organised to have five rounds of exchange between the Manicipality of Flora in Norway and Nkhotakota District in Malawi.
Both sides have benefited from the ten(10) experts five (5) from each side that participated in the programme.
Here are the Names of participants for the last exchange, from Norway Lene Markision, Daniel Belmar, from Malawi we had Yamikani Chitete, Ambilike Mwaungulu.
There is a posibility that Flora Sec School and Nkhotakota Youth might go into a similar programme. Nkhotakota in particular has benefited alot from the same and here are some of the things introduced as a result of the said programme:
1) Introduction of Nkhotakota Technical Vacational Trainning Centre Currently offering trainnings in computer operating skills and Welding to Nkhotakota youth
2) Development of Nkhotakota District Council Website
3) Computers Donated to the Accounts Dept of Nkhotakota District Council
4)Installation of Computer network to aid the Accounts dept in its day to day transactions
5) Establish Commercial Fishing Company in the District to mention a few.
